Overview

Summary
As the COVID-19 pandemic eases, the global car market is undergoing a gradual recovery. At the same time, the number of display panels being equipped in individual cars continues to rise. Due to these factors, global shipments of automotive display panels (automotive panels) are projected to surpass 200 million units by 2023. Furthermore, there is an increasing demand for automotive panels to attain higher specifications and larger sizes. As a result, automotive panels have begun to adopt the TDDI architecture. With advantages such as simplified design and cost savings, the TDDI architecture is expected to eventually become the market mainstream.

There are now opportunities for AMOLED panels to be adopted among emerging EV models and some high-end vehicle models. However, the adoption of AMOLED for automotive displays is still limited by factors such as reliability and lifespan. The penetration rate of AMOLED in the automotive panel market is forecasted to reach 6% by 2026.
